Trial/Purchase Flow Case Study

Context

Carbonite is an online backup service, available to Windows and macOS users, that backs up documents, e-mails, music, photos, and settings.

Problems

The product descriptions, plan descriptions and comparisons, free trial descriptions, and plan purchase are spread across multiple disparate and often unconnected pages and sections, with both duplicative and missing information, making it vhard to find the “right” plan, and hard to try and/or buy

There are 3 plan types with 3 subtypes each, all with different flows, designs, and no ability to compare

Overall, there is no discernible purchase flow

Goals

Create a clear purchase flow. Provide relevant information in context. Provide clear options and flows to trial and to buy.

Output

Addressed information architecture issues by combining pages, removing duplicative information, and providing missing information
